BCSC Process for Redistricting

Understanding Current School Populations

Examining data in our existing schools and boundaries, planning for future housing projects, and understanding neighborhood dynamics.

Working with Administrator Assistance and Districting and Facilities Committee

Administrator Assistance, an experienced third-party firm specializing in school redistricting, will support and guide our process. They will collaborate with our long-standing District and Facilities Committee to develop school boundary recommendations for the School Board. These recommendations will be grounded in data analysis and informed by community input to ensure our redistricting goals are achieved.

Gathering Feedback from Focus Groups and Stakeholders

Administrator Assistance will meet with focus groups, stakeholders, and conduct surveys.

Recommending Options to the School Board

In 2027, recommendations will be presented to the school board for the 2027-2028 school year.

Challenges with Current School Boundaries

  •  School boundary lines split up neighborhoods.
  • Neighborhoods that are in walking distance to a school are districted to a school far away.
  • Some school lines are not connected.
  • Schools have inequities in total number of students and socio-economic status.
  • School lines create inefficient bus routes.
